Cause we all want consistent results every single time! A digital scale can improve your cooking, baking and even help you track your fitness and weight loss goals.
- Consistent Results: Measuring cups can only measure by volume, not density. Not all ingredients that fill the space of a cup weigh the same amounts. For example, a cup of flour will not weigh the same as a cup of water. Again, not all fluids that fill up 1 cup weigh the same, because of differences in density.
Here I weighed flour in two different cups with 1 cup measuring capacity. The cup on the left weighed 158g on the scale and the cup on the right weighed 135g.
It makes you think that you are measuring by weight but you’re still measuring by volume. You may get different results each time depending on factors like how compact they are inside the measuring cup or even the humidity in the area. Crazy hey!
A digital scale on the other hand will always give you accurate results as it measures both wet and dry ingredients.

- Convert measurements: A digital scale converts between imperial and metric measuring system depending on the recipe you’re following.
- Liquid measure feature: Some digital scales have a liquid measure feature, for weighing liquids that have a different density to water, like milk, honey or oil. A very useful feature!
- Portion control: Serving sizes are difficult to guess when you’re on a weight loss program. Measuring cups and spoons leave room for error. It’s easy to overload them. A digital scale eliminates the guesswork when measuring out your foods.
- Mix in beverages: Measuring your beverage or cocktails out using a digital kitchen scale ensures you’ll have the exact right proportions of each drink component so it will taste just right.
- Fewer dirty dishes: Using a digital scale will make clean-up easier, as you won’t have to wash as many bowls, measuring cups, and measuring spoons.
